happy holidays! random pictures & waffle...

just a nice pic from my last 'day off' (ok, it was the teacher's strike, all go booooo hissssss, but i thoroughly enjoyed it!), went to tropical world here in leeds with my daughter, i don't think we have been since thew first year we moved here (about 5 years ago)...

(sorry, i don't know who the artist is but i love this!) - have just looked at the week's forecast, & suspect this is what my birthday trip to the seaside will be! have lined up plenty to do incase of rain, i don't mind at all, i LOVE being at scarborough!

must make this, i love the style, the colour, everything - obviously as soon as i make it & wear it, i will look exactly like dita....

& this too, i like the neckline very much, will have to play about with some paper (oh thank you, all that time pattern cutting, i hated it but it has been so useful!)
am very dizzy/faint today, like some victorian lady with the vapours, i suspect after midweek's bout of food poisoning i am simpy very tired... but it's half term, am going to attempt to tidy some of the clutter in my tiny living room (it's beyond a joke at the moment, i can't find anything & have a lot of crafting to do for a sea themed swap), then i think an old lady's stylie kip on the settee, just because i can!

thank you for the comments everyone, always nice to see that people DO pop by every now & again!

Busy Sunday....

Right this minute, this is where I want to be...I keep thinking it is my birthday NEXT wednesday & that I will be heading to Scarborough for a few days - but then reality kicks in & I realise I am a twit, & it's the Wednesday after....
This simply has to go on my 'to do ' list ( it's a very very long list....) - how could any self respecting Yorkshire lass not make herself a Yorkshire Rose handbag? This will have to be a summer holiday project I suspect, & I don't think I could cope with a white one..artistic licence? a pink Yorkshire rose? hmmm....

Ah, the new dinner set....totally over the top & I love it! Could only afford to get 2 place settings (I went into town to buy sandals for my poor swollen feet - came back with this instead, seems perfectly reasonable to me...sandal shopping will be more sensible on a morning in the holidays rather than the end of the day when my chubby little feet get so sore & puffed up)

This is the wonderful parcel I got in a craftster swap for knitters - it'snot often I love EVERYTHING in a swap package, but this is fab!

and this was the very generous parcel I received as a prize in the kal (my grey cabled yoke cardi) in Ravelry - thank you all involved! I can finally make knitted / felted toadstools!
I think I managed to sort the mad blog photo wotsit - I downloaded all the pics first then wrote around them.....cunning, ever so cunning....
anyone want some veggie lasagne?

and more...

some pretty things on a lovely hot day...indulge me....
amazingly this & the blossom are from the car park at work - and the area where i work is pretty grim....this little lot is worth waiting for every year

and these were my garden today - excuse the slightly arty farty border wotsits, i like playing with my camera editing, i know it's a tad naff... my much missed nan always had lots of pansies, i love them grinning at me

and this is beeeeaaauuuooootiful wallpaper! no idea where i saw it, so sorry if it's hijacked from your blog, but i love it !
it's been a beautiful day (factor 25, it's like lard, i feel i should attempt to swim the atlantic not sit in the garden)

long time no see...

busy. busy busy busy

as simple as that - works manic, so i have been shattered when i get gome, & just want to slob, with or without knitting

anyway, a few things from the last few weeks....

the fairy door & painting are from a swap i organised on crafster, i haven't painted in a long long time, & the plaster door was something i have wanted to try for ages, neither are perfect but i quite like them (both very well received, so thats ok)

both tulip pics are me playing with my camera, its obviously not a good enough quality to get amazing photos, but i like both of these....

so much to do.....

I need to upload some more pictures before I can put them all on here, but that's fine, the way this flaming thing plays up it will take a week anyway just to put one photo in the right place. Grrrrrr. Arsebiscuits to it.

Right, these are some (a tiny sample) of the very many things I currenrly have on the go...

The cabled cardi is somewhere down there in posted land.... these are samples of it so far, it's very straightforward but those cables are haunting me night & day, finish me they cry, finish me.....I tried knitting this when on the train last week, but I keep my cable needle in my mouth between bits, to save picking it up nonstop, & realised after 5 minutes what a twit I looked, short pink haired woman with needle clenched in gob. So I read instead. Ignore the vile carpet. Unless you have the same one, in which case look at my lovely carpet.

I am running a fairy tale / folklore swap on crafster, so have got my derriere into gear & am more than half way through - will take some pics today, have almost finished a fairy door from clay (have wanted to try casting one of those for ages & it's worked well ), & some other nice things, one of which I love, saw it on someone else's blog & played with the idea.

These are some of the things I want to have a go at this year: not that mine will be anything like as fabulous as this, but I fancy having a go.And now this blog has reached that 'the pictures wont go anywhere near where I want them to so I am going to sulk' stage. Time to slap some warpaint on, & brave the 'trying to snow & so far managing sleety rainy stuff' weather (snow! what's going on? go away & bring back the sunshine). Enjoy the day.

a beautiful day...

In my dressing gown this morning, slobbing, I did one of those spur of the moment things & decided to go to the seaside! Obviously Scarborough. Checked trains, got dressed, war paint etc, & off in a taxi all within the space of 30 minutes, got the train with ten minutes to spare.

Am reading a fabulous book about Marie Antoinette & fashion, good job i love it because there was a 45 minute hold up (broken tracks, yes I suppose that's a good enough excuse).

And oh, worth every minute of any delay, I LOVE Scarborough - many many childhood memories (there's a totally separate post). So without further ado - Ladies & Gentlemen, I proudly present:

Scarborough!

This is the Spa, have loved this since being very young, a real sun trap in the summer - I sat enjoying the sea view, eating cake (oh it's a hard life)

And it's not all grey (actually it was sunny, these pictures were taken about 4.30 pm when the sun was starting to fade... but THESE were taken a bit earlier over at the North Bay where they are redeveloping everything... (i HATE trying to add pictures to this blog, they go all oevr the place then vanish. I give up - easier to write another post later & add the rest of the pictures. Not that anyone but me ever reads this...)
Anyway - it was a lovely lovely day. So there.

a trip down memory lane...(pics to come later)

(toyah wilcox, just how much did i want to be this woman?!)

have had a very nice day, i just thoght i would share that sentiment with you!
weather-wise its been the best day so far, sunny, mild, blue skies, really lovely - i spent far too much money, craft shops, book shops, knitting magazines, took my daughter for a pub lunch, the lot& have bought an 80s triple cd that just came out today, oh the memories (yes yes, i know, i am REALLY REALLY old!), without a shadow of a doubt the best times in my life so far, loved that whole era, art college, everything
(this, when i was around 14, was sex on a stick)

i wanted to be toyah, (see above), i made pretty much everything i wore, saw millions & trillions of bands, dyed my hair with bleach & food colouring (hair dyes didnt exist in yorkshire!), & stuck my mohican up with sugared water (gels didnt exist either)

these cds are brilliant, in my head i am now 17, if only i hadnt broken my record player then i could have brought down all my old punk vinyl.... this could end in a) tears, b) drunken mayhem or c) with me in traction!!
